Taylor Frankie Paul Is Not Allowed to Contact Kids, Ordered to Stay 300 Feet Away from Dakota in New Court Order!

Mortensen previously filed for a protective order against the ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ star on March 19

Taylor Frankie Paul has filed for a protective order against her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.

According to April 7 court filings obtained by PEOPLE, the reality TV personality is seeking a protective order against Mortensen, alleging that he has had a “pattern of abusive conduct and coercive control” in their relationship.

Mortensen, 33, previously filed for a protective order against the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 31, on March 19. He was granted temporary custody of their 2-year-old son, Ever, ahead of a hearing scheduled for April 7. Paul’s filing claims that Mortensen’s filing was an “effort to sabotage my career.”

In Paul’s April 7 filing, she detailed several alleged incidents during which he acted violently towards her. The filing also includes screenshots of text messages and photos of bruises, which she claims were the result of altercations with Mortensen.

During one incident on Feb. 23, Paul claims in the request that Mortensen “assaulted” her by “slamming her head against the dashboard of his truck and striking her knee and elbow” after driving Paul away from her home against her will, where her three children were sleeping inside. The filing also requests that Ever be covered under the protective order.

Paul was previously arrested for alleged domestic violence in 2023 following an argument with Mortensen. Per a 2023 indictment obtained by PEOPLE, Paul was accused of throwing “heavy, metal chairs” at Mortensen, and her then-5-year-old daughter Indy was allegedly struck with a chair during the incident. The indictment’s description matches a recently resurfaced 2023 video, showing Mortensen filming as Paul hits him and throws chairs at him.

Paul was given misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child following her 2023 arrest, and she later pled guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault, meaning that if she complies with the conditions of the plea, her charge will be lessened or potentially dismissed. The other charges were dismissed.

Paul and Mortensen are also the subject of two independent domestic assault investigations opened in February 2026 by Utah police departments.

The Draper City Police Department opened its investigation on Feb. 23 after Mortensen’s friend called to report that he had “been the victim of a domestic violence assault by an ex-girlfriend at her Draper residence,” per a police report obtained by PEOPLE. Mortensen later told police that there were “two incidents of physical assault involving ‘grabbing, scratching, shoving, and striking,’ ” per the report, which also notes that police obtained photographs of Mortensen’s “neck scratches.”

A spokesperson for the department previously told PEOPLE that “allegations have been made in both directions” as a part of the investigation.

The West Jordan Police Department also confirmed to PEOPLE in March that there was a separate “active domestic violence case” involving Paul and Mortensen.

A spokesperson said that Mortensen contacted police at the end of February and spoke to police in March for the investigation. The spokesperson also said that Mortensen had submitted video, which police believe is dated early to mid-2024,” but declined to share future details.

Neither reps for Paul nor Mortensen have commented on the ongoing investigations.

Responding to the 2023 video, Paul’s rep said it “conveniently omits context” and called its release a “reprehensible attempt [by Mortensen] to distract from his own behavior.” Mortensen pushed back in a statement to PEOPLE, writing, “I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny.”

Paul and Mortensen’s ongoing legal battle has had ramifications for several of their reality TV projects.

Most notably, hours after TMZ published the video of their 2023 altercation on March 19, ABC cancelled Paul’s already-filmed season of The Bachelorette, three days before it was set to premiere.
