MINUTES AGO!! Hollywood Shocked: Patrick Muldoon Dead at 57 After Sudden Heart Attack

Muldoon’s sister said the “Melrose Place” actor was found unconscious inside his home.

Patrick Muldoon, the actor known for his roles in film and TV projects like Starship Troopers, Days of Our Lives, and Melrose Place, has died at age 57, his manager confirmed to news outlets.

Confirmed details surrounding Muldoon’s death were not immediately available, though his manager told Variety the actor died Sunday, while his sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told TMZ that the star was found unconscious in a bathroom where he was showering inside his Beverly Hills, Calif., home.

Muldoon-Zappa said that he went to shower shortly after having coffee with his girlfriend, who later found him on the floor of the bathroom when she went to check on him.

Muldoon’s death came just two days after he announced on Instagram that he would star alongside Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin in the upcoming film Kockroach.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Muldoon’s manager for comment.

Muldoon’s television career took off in 1992, after he landed the role of Austin Reed on the popular soap Days of Our Lives, which he’d play until 1995. He’d later return to the part in 2011, and remained on the series again until 2012.

After Days, Muldoon starred on the drama series Melrose Place from 1995-96, and appeared in Paul Verhoeven’s 1997 sci-fi cult film Starship Troopers in 1997.

In addition to those roles, Muldoon also appeared on Saved by the Bell in 1991, opposite Robert De Niro and Morgan Freeman in the 2020 western The Comeback Trail, with Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange in 2022’s Marlowe, and in the new crime thriller Dirty Hands, in which he reunited with Starship Troopers costar and ex-girlfriend Denise Richards, which is slated to release on Friday.

Muldoon additionally had several roles in Hallmark and Lifetime TV productions over the years, as well as numerous holiday films such as A Boyfriend for Christmas, A Christmas Reunion, and Christmas in Palm Springs, which also saw him reunite with Starship Troopers actress Dina Meyer in 2014.

His first role came in 1990, when he appeared in two episodes of the TV sitcom Who’s the Boss? starring Tony Danza.

According to Variety, Muldoon is survived by his girlfriend Miriam Rothbart; parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon, Sr.; his aforementioned sister; niece, Halo; and nephew, Arrow Zappa.
