Why Is Maxie Leaving General Hospital? Kirsten Storms Breaks Silence on Shocking Exit!
It has been months since Maxie (Kirsten Storms) suddenly collapsed and slipped into a coma on General Hospital.
While at first it appeared that Maxie had a heart attack and was suffering from complications from her heart transplant, that was not the case. However, the reason behind her unexplained illness remains a mystery as she lies in a coma.

Here’s Where Things Stand With Maxie on General Hospital
Maxie has become one hot topic on the ABC soap over the past few days. First, her family visited her in the care facility in Boston for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Then her mom, Felicia (Kristina Wagner), stepped up to make sure Maxie’s interest in Deception was protected. Felicia was on hand to protect Maxie’s investment in the company, so it was there for her when Maxie woke up.
These things have brought up the question of whether Maxie will be coming back to General Hospital soon. However, a fan on X claimed that Storms was back to filming General Hospital. Again, there is no confirmation that this is true other than the social media “rumor” that the actress is taping the show.
Neither Storms nor the powers that be at the ABC soap have confirmed if Maxie will be back in the mix soon. Parade has reached out to Storms’ representatives for comment.
Why Did Kirsten Storms Leave General Hospital?
As Parade reported, Storms shocked fans in June when she revealed she was taking a leave of absence from General Hospital after 20 years of playing Maxie. The actress explained she was moving to Nashville with her daughter, Harper.
In her video announcing her exit, Storms alluded to the possibility of returning to filming the ABC soap this year but did not promise a comeback. Storms last appeared on General Hospital in August.
Two months later, the soap star revealed the reason behind her taking a break from the show. Storms was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in January, forcing her to undergo surgery and reevaluate her life.
In October, Storms was set to undergo a procedure to “coil” the aneurysm, which is essentially “seals off the aneurysm from the artery.” It’s been nearly two months since Storms shared her health issue, but she has not given an update on her situation as of this writing.
Throughout her leave of absence and health news, Storms has never said she was leaving General Hospital permanently. So, fans will just have to keep patiently waiting for Maxie to return as Storms focuses on her health.
Hopefully, in the New Year, General Hospital fans will get some good news about Kirsten Storms and Maxie.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
