A Disney Entertainment Television spokesperson released a statement confirming the cancellation on Thursday, March 19, after TMZ released a video of a 2023 domestic incident between Taylor and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.
“In light of the newly released video just surfaced today,” the said, “we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
The cancellation came amid reports that Taylor and her ex, Dakota Mortensen, were involved in another domestic dispute in February. People published a quote from a Draper City Police Department spokesperson, who said there’s an open “domestic assault investigation” and that “allegations have been made in both directions.”
Following The Bachelorette being pulled, Taylor’s rep gave a statement to Variety saying in part “Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security.”
