Salt Lake County District Attorney declines to file charges against Taylor Frankie Paul

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) —The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office has declined to file charges in two domestic violence investigations against Utah influencer Taylor Frankie Paul.

Taylor Frankie Paul Cleared in Utah DV Case: DA Drops Charges Against 'Mormon Wives' Star Over Ex Fights

Paul and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen, are known for their roles on the reality TV series “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” They were also involved in a domestic violence incident in 2023. During that incident, Paul was arrested after throwing a chair at Mortensen, which hit her minor child.

Paul pleaded guilty in abeyance to aggravated assault in connection with this incident and has been serving probation in the time since. She was set to appear on Season 22 of “The Bachelorette,” but her season was pulled days before it was going to air, after a video surfaced showing the 2023 incident.

In March 2026, Draper City Police Department confirmed to ABC4.com that it had been informed of a potential domestic violence incident between Mortensen and Paul in February 2026. There were reportedly allegations on both sides.

West Jordan Police Department also confirmed that it was investigating domestic violence allegations from Mortensen against Paul for an incident that reportedly happened in 2024.

The Salt Lake County District Attorney (SLCoDA) has now confirmed that it will not be filing charges against Paul in either of those incidents.

Additionally, they stated that there were incidents that occurred more than three years ago, and the statute of limitations has expired on those incidents.

For the cases that allegedly occurred within the statute of limitations, they reportedly “lack[ed] sufficient evidence to support filing criminal charges where the state must be able to prove such allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.”

“Such incidents lack specificity as to when and what actually occurred or corroboration,” the SLCoDA’s report states. “Based on the evidence submitted for screening by the Draper Police Department and West Jordan Police Department, the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office declines to file any charges.”

The report continued that the SLCoDA could revisit the matter if more information becomes available.

At this time, no charges have been filed against Mortensen, either.

This is a developing story. ABC4 will update this post as more information becomes available.
