General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that there’s some big news to report regarding Kirsten Storms’ (Maxie Jones) status at the ABC soap. On April 3, the show’s closing credits revealed that Storms is now off contract at GH.
Storms returned from an extended absence when Maxie woke up from her coma back in February.
Although Storms was a contract player when she first came back, that’s no longer the case.
It seems like Storms mainly returned so Maxie could react to “Nathan West” aka Cassius Faison’s (Ryan Paevey) resurrection, choose Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and lash out over “Nathan” dating Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening).
Maxie’s part in the story is basically done until the show’s ready to reveal “Nathan” is actually Cassius, but that may not happen for quite some time.
Of course, Storms can still appear on recurring, but she may only pop up here and there like Bradford Anderson does as Spinelli.
Maxie and Spinelli may mostly be living their lives off-screen at this point.
Kirsten Storms moved to Tennessee with her daughter, Harper Rose Barash, and has posted on social media about her medical issues in recent months.
It’s perhaps not feasible for Storms to play a key role in the show on a regular basis, so this move off contract makes sense under the circumstances.
Some new cast additions are in the works according to soap insiders, so GH seems to be making some cuts and freeing up some of the budget for them.
There should be some fresh faces on-screen in the not-too-distant future.
As for Maxie, she’s taken a backseat to Lulu in the “Nathan” story, which shifted in a big way when Cassius decided to cover for Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr).
Lulu is at the center of “Nathan’s” personal life and will remain there until Cassius’ charade inevitably crumbles.
